College Motto

Our Motto

The administrators chose the befitting: “Dei Populo Servire” (To serve the people of God) as the motto of this seminary.

Like the Irish, English and Dutchmen who pioneered the early church in Cameroon, today many Birocol alumni have taken their motto global. Birocol Alumni serving as priests or lay persons are found in other African countries, North America and Europe all united in one common purpose: To serve God’s people.

Creation

As the first Vicariate Apostolic of Cameroon, the local Ordinary Mgsr. Peter Rogan, cognizant of the need for indigenous priests created the Holy Family Minor Seminary in St. Joseph’s College, Sasse in 1957.

Upon his retirement in 1961, his successor Bishop Jules Joseph Willem Peeters transferred the minor seminary from Sasse to its present location in Small Soppo on September 26, 1964 and renamed it after his predecessor as Bishop Rogan College Minor Seminary.

Education

Bishop Rogan College trains young men to serve as priests in the local Catholic Church in the Ecclesiastical Province of Bamenda and Cameroon at large.

It equally trains students towards the General Certificate of Education Ordinary and Advanced Level examinations.
